The source is a filament sitting on or just inside the SE limb around S32E90, which began to erupt around 2024-07-17T17:00Z. The start of this eruption was observed in SDO AIA 131/171/193/211/304 but cut short due to a shutter maneuver, GOES SUVI 171/195/284/304 caught the entire, spectacular filament eruption.

While there is some field line opening associated with another M-class flare shortly beforehand, M1.6 with peak time 2024-07-16T21:24Z, the broad area of dimming is more clearly associated with this later M1.9 flare.
